QUINOA
Our sustainably traded, organically-grown quinoa comes from the Andes mountains in Bolivia.
- It is first peeled to remove the top saponin layer (a slightly toxic layer), then washed, dried, and powdered.
- This produces a beautiful quinoa powder with no bitterness that dissolves easily in water.
- No chemicals or heat are used in the process.
RICE
Our certified organic brown rice is sourced from exclusive crops across Asia, where it naturally grows. It is never exposed to pesticides or pesticide residue, meeting Prop 65 standards – strict non-contamination standards for California.
- The protein is carefully derived from bran + germ + endosperm layers.
- It is treated with organic plant-based enzymes, then washed and sieved several times, and filtered until the protein content rises (80% – 90% whole grain brown rice protein).
- The protein extraction is hexane-free, and low temperatures are used, which also prevents off flavors.
COCONUT
Our organic coconut is sourced from the South Pacific, from areas such as Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and the Philippines. We work with small family-based sustainable farms that are 50-75 years of age, and well cared for.
The coconuts are harvested in 3 traditional ways:
- Some Coconuts naturally fall to the ground;
- Tree climbers are used from the specialized labour community for plucking;
- Bamboo poles are used with a knife attached to cut down the coconut.
The coconuts are then pressed for milk, and the milk is further dehydrated into a powder.
REDUCES CHRONIC INFLAMMATION
Inflammation is the first step to healing. So why are anti-inflammatory herbs so popular? Because if the initial healing response is not resolved, then chronic inflammation can set in and that causes a lot of wear and tear on the body, often including pain. Perfect Protein Elevated Anti-inflammatory is formulated for these situations, when chronic inflammation has become a health concern and we need to calm the fires.

What is oxidative damage?
Think of a herd of wild horses running through your house… OK, just kidding, but not really.

HELPS BUILD AND REPAIR MUSCLE
Protein provides us with the building blocks to synthesize and repair body tissues, including muscles. Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which are found in good concentrations in this formula, are of particular importance for this. It has the highest protein content of all grains (although technically not a grain) and unlike most plant-based sources of protein, it provides a complete protein, which means it contains all the essential amino acids. Botanica’s organic brown rice is treated with organic enzymes to support ease of digestion and to help break down some of the starch and fiber thereby naturally increasing the final protein content.

Coconut was chosen for this formula in part to support a balanced protein profile, and largely for its yummy goodness that gives the powder a smooth and creamy texture.

Anti-inflammatory • Relieves joint pain
Turmeric has a long and rich history of being used to help relieve pain and inflammation, and many modern studies have confirmed its efficacy [1]. Much of turmeric’s medicinal benefits have been attributed to one key constituent called curcumin. Curcumin has proven its excellent ability to act as an anti-inflammatory as well as a wonderful antioxidant. However, curcumin is a compound that is difficult to absorb, which limits its efficacy when taken on its own. Taking the whole root, with all of its constituents, is proving to be the better way to go and is Botanica’s preferred approach.

For the most part, yes, although it should be taken 2 hours away from your medications

What is organic monk fruit extract and why is it added?
Monk fruit is a sweet-tasting plant, also known as Luo Han Guo. Organic monk fruit extract enhances the flavour of our superfood beverages without the addition of sugar, stevia, or artificial flavours.
Why does Botanica Perfect Protein Elevated contain organic acacia gum, and is it difficult to digest?
We have made this recent addition to some of our formulas in order to improve the texture & blend-ability where needed. Our goal is always to deliver the best taste & texture experience to our customers, while ensuring that our products are Certified Organic and free of unwanted fillers. Organic acacia gum is known to be easy to digest and tolerated by even the most sensitive tummy.
