Turmeric

Dry Herb Equivalent of 2040 mg

Turmeric has a long and rich history in India as a medicinal root. It has traditionally been used as an anti-inflammatory to, among other uses, help relieve joint pain, aid digestion, and protect the liver. In recent years, several of its compounds have been shown in research to offer health benefits, with most of the attention going to Curcumin. However, other compounds play important therapeutic roles as well [1,2] and even improve the absorption of Curcumin. [3] This is why unlike other joint supplements, Botanica chooses to use the WHOLE root as it provides better access to all therapeutic compounds. Our capsules are standardized to the two key families of compounds: curcuminoids and turmerones.

Boswellia
Boswellia ingredient shot

90 mg

Boswellia resin, also known as Frankincense in biblical lore, has been used as incense in religious and cultural ceremonies for hundreds of years. It has a lovely aromatic earthy scent. Boswellia has a long history of use for all kinds of chronic inflammatory diseases, including digestive and joint issues, and research today is focusing on its anti-inflammatory potential.[4]

Devils Claw
Devils Claw

Dry Herb Equivalent of 600 mg

Devil's Claw is a plant native to South Africa. It got its name from the fruit it bears that have several small projections that look like little hooks, or claws. It has a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine for a wide range of ailments largely related to digestive and pain disorders, including arthritis. It contains a class of compounds called iridoid glycosides which have been researched for their anti-infllammatory effects. [7]

Ginger
Ginger

Dry Herb Equivalent of 100 mg

Ginger has always paired beautifully with Turmeric and has been a natural pairing in Indian cooking as well as in traditional herbal medicine for centuries. Ginger is a wonderful anti-inflammatory in its own right however and can be very helpful as a digestive aid. It has long been used to reduce nausea. Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger. It’s responsible for much of ginger’s medicinal properties. Gingerol has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.[5,6]

Black Pepper Fruit
Black Pepper Fruit

Dry Herb Equivalent of 40 mg

Black pepper has a long history of being combined with Turmeric. We understand today that one of its active constituents - piperine - increases the absorption of turmeric by a significant factor. This is why it is included in Botanica's Liquid Turmeric Pain & Joint Capsules.
